Drink lots of water (at least 8 cups a day)  which will aid in your body in helping to flush out toxins. Cut out excess amounts of dairy and reduce sugar intake (yes, no more giant sodas) and white flour (often found in processed foods and cheap bread). Cut out refined foods as well – these are often the foods found in the center of shopping markets. People who consume too much suger and refined carbohydrates can have an imbalance in blood sugar levels which has been linked to acne. Too much iodine in your diet may also cause acne. There have been several studies showing this. Foods that include iodine are liver, cheese,  shellfish, salt, and kelp. When possible, make sure to avoid any trans fat foods like cookies, chips, ice cream, milk, margin and hydrogenated oils. You can go a long way to cutting out trans fatty foods by eliminating fast food from your diet. Try and each nature food that’s been cooked at home as much as possible. People who suffer chronic acne may lack enough vitamin A and zinc. You can take supplements to remedy this.

 

Cleanliness as a Cause and Cure

Lack of proper facial hygiene can cause outbreaks of acne. Try and wash your face twice a day to remove bacterial and dead-skin cells – the latter which can clog up your skin and cause infections in your pores. Anti-bacterial soap is recommended for this. Don’t scrub too hard or you may irritate your face. Try washing your sheets and pillow cases once a week. Dead skin and facial oils seep into your bed linens and can clog up your pores! Avoid thick facial creams when possible. This includes thick makeup and sunscreen lotion. Try to find oil-free lotion when possible. You can use tanning lotion, but make sure to use the best tanning lotion out there, preferably oil free if possible. If you use moisturizer lotion, get non comeodgenic which won’t clog pores. If you need some topical acne treatments, try out benzoyl peroxide as a acne remedy. Some of these off-the-shelf acne medications can be used to get rid of acne fast in a pinch — or at least help diminish a particularly nasty pimple.

 

Other Factors To Consider

Hormonal imbalances can be one of the greatest acne-causing factors. This is why teenagers experience chronic acne which suddenly vanishes as they reach adulthood. Pregnant women too can suffer from acne due to the hormonal changes in their body. Birth control pills have been known to cause acne outbreaks.  If you suffer sudden bouts of acne for inexplicable reasons, it’s probably caused by hormones. If possible, try to identify what has induced the sudden hormonal change and, again if possible, make a change.

 

Getting rid of your acne can be a very challenging process. It’s not as simple as just taking a pill or rubbing on some off-the-shelf acne medicine to cure acne. You may have to completely change your diet, start a consistent regimen of exercise, drink more water,  change your hygiene habits , and even start actively pursuing some acne home remedies.
